Madison Gepper

Aspiring Editor

Madison is an aspiring editor studying English at the College of Charleston. She is most passionate about children’s literature and seeks to put inclusive literature into the hands of young readers.

Madison realized this passion for inclusive literature while working for GenZ Publishing as an editorial and acquisitions intern. In this internship, she has edited several inclusive books and published an article on 7 Ways to Support the Black Lives Matter Movement as a Reader.

During her time at GenZ, Madison has taken several books—from start to finish—through the stages of publication.

Diagram of the publishing process

One of the most inclusive children’s books she worked on features children with ostomy bags. Acting as the co-designer and formatter on this book made her realize the important role literature plays in celebrating and empowering all children.

This internship has also allowed her to work on books from a variety of genres (Children’s/YA Books, Romance, Fantasy, Poetry, Memoirs).

BOOKS EDITED

  • All You Hold On To by K.T. Egan
  • The Hybrid Queen by Catherine Edward
  • Lodestone by Katherine Forrister
  • Then and There, Here and Where by Esabella and Michael Strickland
  • The Christmas Mistake by Josephine Templeton
  • My Silly Illy by Nicole Dwyer
  • Brimstone by Lauren Eason

In her future work, Madison hopes to continue this work. With the help of creative, new authors, she intends to bring more diverse, innovative literature into the world.
