This course will be designed in modules. This course will be designed in modules. Modules will open and close as listed on the course calendar. You are encouraged to log-in to the course, check the announcements, participate on the discussion boards, check the calendar, and review assignments at least 3 times per week. You should expect to spend the same amount of time preparing for and participating in this course as you would if we met face to face (approximately 5 hours per week).
If you have problems related to the course, please contact me immediately. If you have technical problems, please contact the Student Computing Support Desk at 843.953.5457 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Resolve problems promptly. Computer failure/unavailability does not constitute an excuse for not completing assignments by the due date.
Because we don’t actually meet face-to-face, it’s essential that you maintain an active presence in the class, posting and reading responses frequently and staying active in the discussions forums. Remember that I can see when you log onto OAKS and monitor your progress through the class. Failure to log-in four days in a row will result in a WA.
There are two kinds of assignments in this course: short-form (blog, share, project-based, and workshop posts) and long-form (major projects).
For short-form posts, I accept late work only in rare cases and only if I’ve talked with you about an extension. All due dates are listed in the course calendar.
For long-form projects, I penalize late project 1/3 of a letter grade for each day late. As is the case with short-form writing, I am happy to give extensions.
